how to link 2 computers together without a modem

    HI there. I am trying to link my computer to my buddies laptop. I dont have a modem but have the ethernet port. He has a modem and ethernet port. We are wanting to play co-op games together and swap files back and forth. Is this possible without the modem connection and how hard is it? Thanks for the help.

    could use a network hub, a router or a crossover net cable
