    Many people on here have expressed dismay when they realized after connecting their iPod to their other/friend's/dog's/cat's/whatver's computer all the songs that were not in the Library on that computer were lost. There is a simple way to make sure this does not happen and that your iPod does not sync with your Library.

    First, open iTunes.
    Go to Edit on the very top.
    Click Preferences...
    Click the iPod tab at the top of the window that pops up
    You should see three options which say

    Automatically update all songs and playlists
    Automatically update selected playlists only:
    BOX WITH YOUR PLAYLISTS
    Manually manage songs and playlists

    There should be bubbles next to each of the three options. Click the one next to Manually manage songs and playlists and then Ok and you're done!

    Note: Make sure this is done on all computers you are connecting your iPod to BEFORE you connect it or else everything will be lost.

    Nice one DewtheDew.

    I don't think it needs stickying though. All you gots to do is say

    "Go [bold]Edit[/bold]----->[bold]Preferences[/bold]----->[bold]iPod Tab[/bold]

    Then select `[bold]manually manage songs & playlists[/bold]` (do this on each PC you take songs from)."

    when someone posts the question

    Good call though man. Saves a lot of people a lot of hassle =)
