how to open a vhd file from windows 7 in vista

    Hi Guys, my windows 7 laptop was stolen from my house during a break in. I am now using an old vista laptop. i made a windowsimage backup onto an external hard drive pevious to the theft. ow do I access files on this back up as there are some important documents and pictures on this?

    I don't have Vista but can open mine by right clicking and using 7Zip to open the files.

    You maybe able to mount it in either vmware player,virtualbox or easeus todo backup.Web search before installing any of these on how to mount a windows 7 image (assuming windows was used to create the image),this will allow exploration as tho it was a folder assuming opening archive doesn't work

    edit:eek:ther option download a win 7 disc & install it along side vista

    Maybe mountable in Vista - can be done in Win7: Computer > Manage > Right click on Disk Management and Attach VHD.
