I have a IBM thinkpad with a built-in DV/firewire port. I'd like to be able to send DVD-video out to that port. I could then watch movies that I've ripped by connecting the thinkpad to my Lite-On DV port (lvw-5005) which is in-turn connnected to a TV. I tried Nero Showtime with no success. Does anyone have an alternate solution? Anyone know of another player app which can do this? Thanks, Charles
what your trying seems i lttle... well stupid tbh why dont you just get a network (RJ45 crossover) cable then you could share the movie files on the network and play them through the 2nd computer
There's no 2nd computer involved. The point was to send ripped movies from the HD on the laptop out the DV port to a standalone DVD recorder (which also has a DV port) and play them on the home theater system (without burning them).
im guessing the dv port on the player is probably for output and not for input from outside devices otherwise you wouldnt be having this problem. doesnt your laptop have a standard video out connection. if it does you could hook it straight up to the tv and just not use the dvd player at all
the DVD recorder DVD port works well for input. I've used it for recording movies from a camcorder. From other discussions, apparently I would need to convert the MPEG-2 to AVI in order for it to be output to the DV port. Better off just doing the burn I guess.
get ImToo mpeg encoder from here http://www.download.com/ImTOO-MPEG-Encoder/3000-2194_4-10482842.html youll need a license to encode files longer than 5 mins but it can convert your mpeg2s to avis for ya
