I have an IBM Thinkpad with a built-in DV/firewire port. I'd like to be able to play a DVD and have the video sent out the firewire port. I could then watch movies that I've ripped by connecting the Thinkpad to the DV port on my Lite-On standalone DVD recorder (lvw-5005) which is in-turn connnected to a TV.

I tried Nero Showtime with no luck and have been searching for other media player apps that would do this. Does anyone know how this can be done? Anyone know of another player app which will output video to a DV port?

    Thanks,
    Charles

You Can not send DVD/Mpeg-2 video out through the Firewire port...If the Video was In DV AVI format you could send it out to a DV Camcorder or maybe a DVD Recorder...
Most Good editing programs have a DV Out to Tape Feature in them for recording Edited DV Video Back out to the camcorder and recording it on to DV Tape.....

Why don"t you Just Burn these Video"s to DVD?? Or If your LapTop had a "TV-Out" Feature You could Connect the TV Out to your DVD Recorder and record the Video to DVD or Just watch it on your TV set.....

    Cheers
