I have some, say, French DVDs with Dutch subtitles. I want to play them on my computer, but want to use the English subtitles file, which is located on my hard disk.
The question is how to do that? What player would be able to handle that?
I tried a few, maybe nplayer will do it, but no luck so far. I KNOW how to play DivX files with subtitles, it's about an original DVD now.

try easysub.it's a srengfe program but it'll give solution.it plays the subtitles only but they will appear over any other shown thing on the screen.so you let the default vdv player to do the movie part and the easysub for the subtitle part.(you have to start them together).good luck
