does any 1 no how 2 remove this? i just riped 4gb's of music and cant play it on other audio devices.
If you were able to rip it there shouldnt be any DRM. What format is the music in? What software are you using to put music on your audio devices? And what Audio Devices are you trying to put the music on?
want ot compress them to mp3 and i have tried: -media mockey -super mp3 recorder -cheetah cd burner -x-audio maker(keep getting an error message and wants to shut down) -imtoo audio maker(same as above & i downloaded it a few times) -xilsoft audio maker -iso buster and a few more i cant remember. so the reason i need to do this is because i now have over 35 GBs of music on 1 of my hard drives. i was borowing cds from my frinds and neighbours. now i want to compress them to mp3 so i can put them on my 40 GB pm3 player. so if any 1 can think of other programs for me to try i will and i thank you all for your help in any way.
I don't think he "riped" the files just (downloaded) them! Most likely from a PEER to PEER site like BearShar or Kazza. They will play on Windows Media player and some other apps but NEVER can be burned or opened in some apps like Sound Forge. Here is the EASY quick FIX! The omly reason I joined this forum was to share this info because I think "ALL": art should be 100% FREE! Sony should remember that when they cash them checks they get from most of the flunkies that call themselves ARTIST! HA! ================================ This is the ONLY way to do it! Well the only way I'm tellin right now anyway!(;-D Your sound card has a line out to speakers yes > YES! Your sound card has a line in for a Mic yes > YES! You need a stero jack "male to male" connector! Connect the line out to the mic in! Start your RECORD device! PLAY the stupid Sony DRM protected song! Now that you have RECAPTURED the audio and there is no DRM code you can play and yes even burn it as you please! Make sure you do this right or you can toast some sound cards! PEACE JackA$$! um, NO i did not down load them, like i said i riped them from borowing cd's from friends and naghbours. if i knew how to put a picture in this i would cause i have 1 box of cds left to rip.

You need to rip your CDs with something other than Windows Media Player, Exact Audio Copy is good and free option for ripping to mp3. Any the who, you can change the format of Media Player to rip to MP3 instead of WMA in the settings section of media player. You can use Winamp to convert files from one format to another with free plugins.
I would suggest simply switching WMP to rip in mp3 format for the rest of the Cd's you wish to rip. You can also select what audio rate you would like the mp3 file to be. For copyrighted audio that is proprietory to only certain players, such as iTunes or Ruckus, I use Tunebite. Your sound card must support it, but mine is 4 years old and is compatable. What it does is record any sound that comes through the sound card. So you open an audio file in tunebite and then it plays it in whatever player it plays in, and records into the format you select. The great thing about it is that it records at 4x, instead of most that record in real time.
@jacka$$ If you have already ripped most of your music to wma and dont want to borrow all those cd's again then your best option would be a program like TuneBite. However I would not recommend using the 4x or accelerated recording options. In short it records your song playing fastly and then changes it back to regular play when done. It works but can mess with your tracks &/or cut the begining and ends of your songs off. BUT if you can borrow all those CD's again then re-ripping them would be the best option.
Don't know if you have done this but did you untick the copy protect music box in the rip music section of the options section in media player tools,this will help you in the future.As for now maybe you could try a program called easy cd extractor to convert your files to mp3 they have a 30 day free trial period so it won't cost you anything to try.http://www.poikosoft.com/
thanks guy's/galls, i have started using creative playcenter 2 & winamp to rip the rest of the cds, they both remove the dmr and puts them to mp3s' but winamp tacks so long at only 4x. i'm not going to borrow all those cds again , i'm going to just buy some cd-rw and do it that way. im so tired of winblows, i wish i knew how to use lunix.
i didnt know that DMR were in those have you tried using dvd shrink with the latest version of anydvd?
I'm thinking of wmv downloads from a site like hotmovies.com. They are restricted rentals for a few days. A guy told me he'd removed the DRM from them (but not how). DVDshrink would only work for DVD's, no? Or can it be used for wmv/ avi files ?
The following method is a work-around. Although, it does not remove code from the original, but will provide an output file (WAV or MP3) that can be used for any purpose. To accomplish you’ll need an internal recorder such as FreeQrecorder or Replay (preferred) and a player that plays the original track (w/ license). This should be installed on the purchased Audio CD. After loading and setting up one of the internal recorder, launch it. Then begin playing the original CD. If Replay is used (because of it’s splitting feature), then you can go get a cup of coffee and return with output files that can be used freely to burn as MP3 or WAV. If FreeQrecorder is used, then you have to baby sit the recording phase. Replay has a limit of 25 recording before having to pay, but FreeQrecorder is unlimited, but can only record at 96 kbps, which really isn’t bad, but of course for CD quality, Replay is the way to go… Well have fun. NOTE: These internal recorders are recording everything that the sound card generates, so if you’re working on something else and get that mean ‘beep’ then it will be on the output file. So the best thing is just to attend to this task until completed.
