how to scan possible downloads

    I have spy doctor on my computer, how do I scan possible downloads before downloading them. I don't want to put a virus on my computer. Thanks.

    is spydoctor a virus scanning program. If not, what reccomendatins do you have. I also downloaded adaware, but that is just for pop up ads right?
