How to select an HDMI cable?

    Are all the HDMI cables the same to transfer the picture by connecting the HD LCD TV? If no, what type of the HDMI cable is the best for the picture and sound quality to connect an HD LCD TV and DVD player (with HDMI digital output)?

    All HDMI cables are the same stay away from Monster Cables they are over priced you can get good cables from places like Blue Jean cables.com Do not let anybody tell you that you need to spend $100.00 for a HDMI cable

    Ya, what he said. Also try out monoprice. They have fairly decent prices on cables.

    You said all HDMI cables are the same. I went to the http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/hdmi-cable-clearance-sale.htm
    and saw two type of the HDMI cables, BJC Series-2 HDMI and BJC Series-F HDMI Cables. What is the difference between Series-2 and Series-F HDMI cable? Which one is better or they are the same? In addition, how many feet are optimal for connection of the DVD and HD LCD TV?

    If you had 2 cablesof differant manufacture you would not be able to see a differance between the 2 cables as far as the quality of the picture so do not be taken in with advatising by the manuf i have used 5.00 cables like i said before all HDMI cables are the same what you pay for is the size of the cable some are thicker than others the lenth of the cable up to 20ft means nothing so do not worry

    I would think that as long as the cables have the same certification, i.e., 1.3a HDMI, etc, they should perform the same.

    I saw HDMI cable is always attached 1.3a. Unless there is other different type of HDMI cable, why shouldn’t the cable be simply called HDMI but must be added 1.3a? Is there any other none 1.3a HDMI cable? If there is only one type of the HDMI, it seems unnecessary to add 1.3a because all HDMI cables are 1.3a; otherwise, they are not HDMI, right?

    There are actually HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 (both a and b) versions. I think mostly the differences are in how much bandwidth they can pass.

    The HDMI specification has supported 1080p content since version 1.0, and each new revision of the HDMI specification is fully backward compatible with previous revisions.

    In June 2006, the HDMI Founders announced HDMI 1.3 and new capabilities to support Deep Color (up to 16-bit color RGB color) and new lossless audio formats (such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA (Master Audio).
