I just recently purchase a Sony IC Recorder and have about three audio files on it that run almost two hours that I've backed up to my laptop hard drive but now I'd like to burn them onto CD's. Problem is I need to split these files in half so they can fit to a 80 min CD but I'm not able to do it with Windows Media Player and I tried with Nero but it will not recognize the files. I'd also like to add chapters to the files so when I listen back on CD I'd know where to go to. Any help?

Alright. I downloaded mp3DirectCut and even though I'm able to trim or split those 2hr long files I'm not able to burn them. I need to burn these files onto a CD or DVD to make room for other files. The program does not have a "burn" button but a "record" button and when I click on it, it tells me to download something called "Lame Encoder". Huh? So I did and it doesn't do a thing to help me burn files. What do I do?
MP3 Directcut does not burn. It only cuts to the size you want. Once down in size you will need to burn with Nero or some other burning program. You will need to tell the burning program to burn a regular audio cd or a mp3 cd.
O.K. But will Nero recognize the files? I tried burning these files before with Nero and it would not open them to burn.
you could use itunes also. just load the file you want cut up and right click on it and in options tell it to split it up however you want and make wav files to burn to cd. for example tell it to make the first file from 0:00:00 to 0:05:00. then make another from 0:05:00 to 0:10:00. and keep going until you reach the end of the original file
You need to find out why Nero will not recognize the files. I Googled for a Sony IC Recorder & found this. Did you use this software to upload to your computer? If you did, did you create a MSV or ISC file? You should have created a WAV file on your computer. Nero, or any other burning software, would then be able to recognize it.
