I want to make a VCDof home movies for friends in Africa. So I follow the guide available here, and create a VCD in PAL format (I suppose), but how can I check to see if it actually works. No point to send it all the way there and find it does not work. Is there a way? How do we check PAL created VCD's in North America? Also if I were to create a DVD, how do I eliminate the region code? Mind you these are only home made movies, do they have Region codes associated with it during burning or creation. All help would be greatly appreciated.

Some DVD Players will play PAL format VCDs. Suggest you try it in yours and a couple of friends. If it plays OK then it will be just fine.

Your home movies, if put on a DVD, will NOT have a Region code. I would suggest burning them to a DVD+R and booktyping it to a DVD-ROM for better compatalility.
