i have a movie in either a mpg or avi file, i don't really knoe which it is. i want to transform the file in a recordable file to write on a dvd, can someone help?
If you have NeroVisionExpress then its a simple matter of dragging file into NVE and continue next to burn stage
you will more than likely have to chose a program that will convert your avi to mpeg2 before you burn your newly created mpeg files to dvd
@andmerr, why do you have to convert to MPEG2 before burning? I have downloaded several movies in AVI format and have just dragged file into NVE, NVE does the transcoding and then burns
if you dont use a burning program that automatically does it for you, you need to convert your avi file into mpeg2 which is the compatible dvd format. Transcoding or more specifically Compressed-domain Transcoding means normally a re-encoding process that changes the video or audio features, such as resolution or bitrate, by changing parts of the a/v content, but not by reconstructing the content again (which is the case in encoding process). Compressed-domain transcoding also maintains the format of the file same as in the original file. Encoding is opposite of decoding. Encoding means that a file, whether it is an audio, video or picture file, is compressed to another format that normally takes up less physical drive space than the previous format. Common video encoding methods are DivX, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 -- most common audio encoding method or format is MP3.
@andmer, by me using NeroVisionExpress does that prog do the necessary conversion, like as I said this is all I use burning my movies, most of which are downloaded from net in AVI format. My video files which I downloaded in MPEG2 format was also burnt with NVE3
it most likely does, but that takes all the fun out of it.I take it gwen that you dont use vso divx to dvd .I use this program to convert my avi's in batch form, so i find it an easy product to use
Only use VSO DivxToDVD on rare occasions, its a good prog but I like NVE3, funny though I have FULL Nero prog I cant use Nero Burning Rom
hey hadnt you better get a move on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 arent you going to have a flutter today on the geegee's Recode is relatively easy to use better than the other nero programs.
