This topic may have been covered. questions: 1) I bought Dysan 1- 16X 120 min video DVD-R RECORDABLE MEDIA-50-PACK for about $14 canadian dollars. However I have been having difficulty using it. When I want to copy non copy righted dvd movies or movie clips/files, for some reason i keep getting the error, (in the box titled DVD RW-D22A: Waiting for disc) that would states " This disc is not writable please insert writable disc... Disc required for compilation: DVD+R/WR, DVD-R/WR, DVD+R/DL... Disc type in recorder: DVD-R" I changed different blank same dvd media from the 50 stack i have, and I keep getting same error. when i use different dvd media i would be able to burn ok. But with Dysan DVD-R, i don't know what seemed to be the problem. The label say manufatured in Taiwan- Is this fake dvd media? I tried to get a refund in the store where i bought it, but i was told that is not possible. I use Nero express 7, SONY DVD RW-D22A burner, and window 2000. Please to solve this problem. 2) What is the best dvd media, even if it is expensive and if it works better i think i would consider buying it. i hear a horror stories that out of 50 spind dvd media, success rate of burning is about 25 dvd media and the other 25 are wasted in the porcess of burning-is it true? if so which dvd media is the best and not prone to be wasted. 3)here is more info with regards to my burner/system: firmware version : BYS1 Buffer size 2MB media ID: RITEKF1 Now what should i do. I downloaded BYS2 and BYS3. I unzipped the files already. and i think the files are with .BIN extension. To update do I have to double click BYS3 file or there is prior steps before that. should i update to BYS2 first or i can jump to BYS3? But i don't know if i need to update it? because on the site for sony it said no update available for my cd burner. I also read on the forum that updating a firmware may destroy the harddrive if don't know what to do. Any advice please. I have no clue what flash or crossflash, etc means. how one can flash or cross flash dvd drive? why one flashs or cross flashs? can somebody please guied me how to update firmware for my SONY DVD RW DW-D22A or how to update firmware in general. is there a site that would guide me step by step ? 4)When i downloaded the updated firmware files I also found this info but i don't have any clue what it meant: ____________________________________________________________ Original RPC-2 Firmware version BYS3 for the SONY DVD RW DW-D22A Flash in Windows using "LtnFW" If the drive is not detected after a misflash, then flash in DOS with mtkflash (1.69 or higher) Use this command: "mtkflash # w /b BYS3.bin" Where # is replaced by one of the following numbers: 1 - Primary Master 2 - Primary Slave 3 - Secondary Master 4 - Secondary Slave If using mtkflash 1.80.1, then do not include the "/b" flag. I read it, but it did not help, found it to confusing. What i need is brief step by step guide. like what should i do first, second, third, etc. I do have BYS2 and BYS3. for instant which one i should choose, when and if i choose one, should i just double click the file to start updating firmware? hi, i've re-read your original post, and whilst we can still get stuck into getting your firmware updated, BYS3 is from 2004 and is very unlikely to be able to recognise/use any 16x discs such as yours mentioned above..
Thanks for attempting to help me and i appreciate that. It looks like i am stuck with sony dvd burner or it has to go to trash can. Thinking to buy another dvd burner. which one you suggest that would not give me such problem and recognize or read any type of dvd or cd medias? Once again thanks for trying to assist me.
