does DVD Rebuilder make the quality better than DVD Shrink?

No comparison. DVD Shrink transcodes the files whereas DVD Rebuilder encodes and produces a much higher quality.

Ferg is right on. The difference is encoding versus transcoding. DvdRB produces much better quality results than Dvd Shrink especially for larger compression needs.

    post the logfile entry...

that depends on your CPU. What CPU do you have ?. I have a Quad Core Q6600 and main movie mode takes a mere 45 mins, a full disc episodic takes an hour.
Encode times on one of my Dual Cores (E6400 2.13GHz) escape me as i'm not at home to check the logfile.
My previous DVD Rebuilder machine was an Athlon 2800XP, encodes took approx 5 hours on that machine...

The logfile (text file) is in Rebuilder's work folder. Each encode appends to the same logfile. See the amendments i made to my previous post re runtimes. DVD Rebuilder is an incredible piece of software, it is worth all the time it takes to work it's magic.
For my full discs i literally do mean FULL discs, i don't chop anything out. I've done all the Battlestar Galactica boxsets with a whopping 44% video compression with very good results.
I use the (free) HC encoder with DVD Rebuilder, HC is currently at version 0.23.

There's no difference in the IFO etc files compared to an ISO. You say the burn is 'horrible', is playback of the files that Rebuilder created any different ?. Plus still waiting for the logfile entry...

Go to the drive that you placed you DVDRebuilder working folder on, open up that folder. In it will be a text file named Rebuilder. Open it and copy and paste the text to your post.
You have a multitude of members here and elsewhere that swear by the results of DVD Rebuilder. Don't give up on it yet.

Was this the Family Guy disk? If so are there any extras or junk that you can get rid of? Cause even though Rebuilder is a terrific program, even it has its limits. And at a reduction level of 35%, I would say that you have reached them. I will have to let dialysis comment of the bitrate numbers, but they look very low to me.

Edit: Here is an example of an episodic disk I done, don't do very many so it took awhile to find. Anyway this one came out looking great.

See here re Angles & Interleaving ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/707220 ~ am re-reading that one myself as had forgotten the ins and outs of this side of things. I had a problem with an Alice Cooper concert DVD, i never did manage to sort out the Angles, the disc jumps all over the place every time it hits an Angle. I never did get around to redoing that one, all my attempts using vobblanker for this failed and i gave up so didn't even try FixVTS.

Ouch - no wonder it looks horrible. Dialysis1 can explain these numbers far better than me

that's a respectable time, sounds like a Dual Core machine, though as we've already said, encode time doesn't matter, it's all about the quality with Rebuilder. Just make sure your machine has adequate cooling and all the fans are clean..

Eh ?, of course you can. I use it for 99.9% of my dvd's. You just happened to have picked a disc that gave you 35% video compression. As ferguj1 said you need to investigate what you can remove.
Let's be honest though, surely the quality shouldn't matter for something like Family Guy :)
