How to view a hidden file?

    How can I see a hidden file or folder in Mac OS X?
    Is it possible to do without any external programs?
    PLEASE answer, I'm not-yet-so-familiar-with-mac.. *blush*

    Easiest way is to download Onyx (http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html) and under Parameters/Finder select "Show hidden files and folders".
