Trying to change the booktype I know it's a liteon drive and went to their website to try the utility, no luck. Anybody have a clue? There is nothing on the net about this drive.

    Thanks!

Which porgram(s) are you using to burn? Programs like Nero, Decrypter and ImgBurn should allow you to change the booktype.

Tried all those didn't work. Says unknown type. I used the Liteon selection. This is an external drive so not sure what the deal is or if there is no support for it.

Hmmm I would thought one of those would have done it since it looks like it is a LiteOn.
If you knew which model # of Liteon it was there might be some patched firmware. Flashing it with this (if one is around) would probably do the trick.

Tried that too seems that if you use the utility on Liteon's website it says that it's not a liteon drive. How can I figure out a what drive it is? All I know is it's a 20x with lightscribe.

It seems to be LH-20A1H but I can't get it to upgrade the firmware.

Check and make sure it is a LH-20A1H - look on the label on the back on the enclosure - the LiteOn model # might be listed there. If not you would probably need to open the enclosure and find the make and model # there. (duh on me for not thinking of that sooner!)
Patched firmware can run a risk esp if it not the right model. I did come across this thread about the drive (LiteOn) and booktyping along with a link to patched firmware. Here's a link

Dang - I wasn't able to find any other patched firmware.
I'd make sure it's a oem LiteOn too.
You can always periodically check codeguys to see if they post one.

Think I'm just going to return it and get either a lite on or lg.

I think that may just be you're best bet - get one supported straight from the manufacturer.
