Hp 1Tb smartsave External Hdd problems

    Hi there I have a 1TB HP Smart save External Hdd It is no longer getting power I Have a external sata Hdd Case What I want to know is since this Hdd comes with Hp Virtual cd drive and the smart save program installed Can I just plug it in too The other External case That I have and it will work ? Or Will there be some special way I will need to format it to make it work In a external Case Other than the one it came in? In side it has printed on the HDD

    1.0TB
    Western Digital
    Sata/32mb Cache
    Model WD10EADS-11M2B1
    WD Caviar Green

    is it still under warranty? if not then can use other case & will come up as anther drive like e:drive or similar. usually don't need to format it for it to work as long partitioned & formated previously.

    No not under warranty any more I have put the hdd in the other case and it dosnet show up so i removed the virtual drive and it showed up as unalocated space for the drive Asked to format so I did But now when I try put files on the drive it takes ages and if I try do any big files it gets half way through then a error comes up says cannot coppy file I/O error ? what I doing wrong ?
