Hi all! I have a HP a265c desktop and I just did a HP System restore in hopes of doing a complete factory restore. Unfortunately, when I did that, I had all my original files and programs still there. Additionally, it wouldn't let me run AIM and other programs. I installed the Realtek sound driver but it still doesn't recognize the sound. To my understanding, the factory restore should have did all of this for me... unless I did something wrong. All I want is to have my computer the same as it was when I got it.
When you do system restore on an HP you have to select factory restore and click on advanced settings in which it gives you the option to reformat the drive and delete everything and put you completely back to the day you brought it home. The make it so that the average joe doesn't delete all thier files performing this restore but make it harder for more savvy users who want to start fresh
If your setting a pc to factory settings then you will normally have a system re store disc. Set your bios to boot from cd then re boot pc with the disc in and follow the re store guide.
john, you don't always have a recovery disk as the name brands like ibm & dell use part of the hd for system recovery.
