When I use this writer the disc skip and sometimes miss frame on the copied movie. I have went into the web site and updated, ran cleaning tapes, and cleaned the movies before I put in the writer with no success. Any suggestions?

    I use Nero to copy
I use different media and it does the same thing on all.
    TDK, Verbatim, and compusa.

    Post a Nero log.
Verbatium is good, TDK maybe and compusa is a gamble.
At what speed are you burning?

    It says the Max
but has other speeds. Should I change the speed type?

I am using Nero6. I have put log into support at Nero and help.
Know of any web site where I could get a newer update for free?
Can't afford to upgrade at this time.

Many people here still use Nero 6.
Nero 6.6.0.18 is the version you should have.
It is known to be bug free.

If you have a later version you should uninstall and run the clean tool.
    http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-cleantools.html
    It works fine for burning.
It does not have some of the newer features, but you can live without them.
It is what I still have myself, but I do not use it to burn backups.
If you post a log here, we will be able the help you better.

The rule for burning is to burn at half the rated speed of the media.
So if you have 16x media, you should not burn at more than 8x for best results.
Also, if you have an older burner with out dated firmware, I would slow the burn rate down and stay away from the newer faster media.

I generally only buy 4x DVD-5 blanks as I only burn at 4x.
Since you only save 7 min burning at 8x.

Thank you for the link to clean Nero after I remove. I didn't know about this. I also have installed the Nero 6 that you suggested. I hope this make a difference. I will post again after I try out this feature and let you know. Again thanks for the help. If you have any other suggestions that I could try just post.

To be of any more help, I would have to see a log.

    Log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt
