Recently when I put in a music cd (from a record company or one that has been made) my monitor goes dark and my pc stays that way until I reboot. I have tried several didn't cds so I doubt it is a bad cd. I have talked with technical support several times and nothing is helping. I checked the drives, they are supposedly working fine. I can open data cds but not any cds that contain music. I have checked all power conections, all are okay. Is my drive bad and if so, how come it will play data cds and my diagnostic checks say it is okay?
In the drive Properties, under the 'Autoplay' tab, can you change 'Music Files' to 'No Action' (else it tries to open with WMP). If it doesn't freeze, then try to play the cd with WMP and see if it freezes. If it freezes, try playing with another media player (VLC).
