I am confused.. i have been shopping around to buy a DVD witer ... and since i was happy with my HP CD-writer.. i was looking for somehting similar... i found the DVD200 for 349 (299 after rebate) and the DVD300 for 200... the 300 seems faster and to come with better authouring software.... so why is it cheaper???? and why did HP release similar product too close to each other?? which one would u recomend..?

Too close to each other? The dvd200i was released in April last year, the dvd300i just a month ago. All new "3rd" generation DVD writers are cheaper than the old ones cause they are cheaper to manufacture, they will be produced in larger quantity etc.
If you want a HP writer, get the dvd300i.

I agree. I had the dvd300i for a while and it is a very fast and reliable burner. Go with the newer model.
