OK, this is weird. My friend just bought a laptop. When she uses it at home it gives her problems. I asked her to lend it to me. I logged in at my house just fine. No problems. Yet she takes it back home and it starts giving her problems again. Websites she logs in to, stay loading. Or give her a server error. Her desktop and other laptops log in and run just fine. This same laptop logs in through my router just fine. It's just this one laptop at her house. It's an HP dv2-1030us. Please advise.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Firstly does the laptop work Ok if connected straight to the your friends internet feed, and does it work OK if using a wired connection to your friends router.Check router settings like MAC Address filtering and DHCP settings (assuming router is using DHCP. It may even be better to reset the router and set up fresh with no security initialy and take it from there.

OK, I had her try using the ethernet cable and she says it's running with no problems, wired. But wireless is still messing up.

Also do not set up any security like WEP, WPA, or WPA2 initially, and turn off any firewalls on the laptop. What security is\was on the router, and what OS and service pack is she using.

The router was setup with WPA and TKIP encryption. The laptop is running Vista SP1.

That should be no problem to put back on if you manage to get it working after reset.
