    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to upgrade the RAM on my laptop from 384, to 1GB. I bought two 512MB. The manufacturer says it has two slots for RAM, with one "accessible" for upgrade. The other slot should be somewhere underneath the motherboard (which is completly retarded). I managed to dismantle the laptop to a certain level and then i can't continue. I can get to the part where the "skeleton" is at, but i'm stuck. I've been trying to find a dismantling guide on the net, but no success. I know i should be able to get to it. Does anyone know of somewhere i can get more info on taking this thing apart?

according to the specs it is 512meg so don't know if can handle 1gig of ram. check on bottom of laptop if access plates can be removed & also check under the keyboard as have found ram, cpu & hd there.

it says Maximum Memory 1280MB DDR SDRAM (1 x 256MB, 1 x 1024MB)so i know it'll take it. I've seen some guides showing keyboards being dismantled so you are probably right. i'll try to go through the keyboard. When i opened it up yesterday through the bottom, i got all the way down to the skeleton that protects the mobo, but i managed to look directly underneath the modo, and there appears to be another memory slot directly underneath the one accessible on top. what you say makes sense so I'll try that later on today. Thank you for your time!

I got to the other ram slot through the keyboard. The unit i replaced was a 256MB, but it was reading it as a 128MB. Now i replaced it with a 512 (and a 512 in the other one) and its reading the total memory as 896. I know both RAM tabs were good. Maybe it going to shared video memory? i got a Radeon 9100 IGP w/128MB.
    Thanks for your input!

128meg is being shared with onboard video. 1024-128=896meg. no problem, teach & learn
