I've been using Nero 6 for a long time so it was nice to see Nero 7 come out, but because of all the bugs in the first version i put of installing until the demo Nero 7.0.1.2 arrived, thats when my headache started. i totally installed Nero 6 before installing 7 reg cleaner etc. installed the demo OK but after loading mp3's or anything it will just sit on the burning screen saying "burning started" with nothing happening, tryed ever thing, couldn't get it to work. i then thought what the hell and dissided to go back to nero 6 untill i came across a fix. uninstalled 7, clened the reg and went back to 6, same results!!!!!,worked ok before installing 7. to finish this story the only way i could get 6 to work again was to do a system restore. i have no idea what the problem is, i think its more pc related as i'v not come across anybody with the same problem, (had a good search on google) would love to try Nero 7 :-(
Did you by chance use the "Nero General Clean Tool" to completely wipe out/clean and uninstall its products/applications, then restart your computer right after that? Or did you just uninstall via "Add/Remove" and delete/clean from regedit? I would say go to Nero's website and get "Nero General Clean Tool" to run, then click on "clean all" and run it to wipe out everything. Now restart your computer, run General Clean Tool again just to make sure everything is gone, then search via "regedit" for any left over nero related and delete it out. Then download the latest from Nero, either Nero 7 or the last Nero 6.6.0.16 and then run the setup and now you should be fine.
first i used "Your Uninstaller 2006 pro" which installs programs and scans the reg for any dormant files. i then ran the Nero "Driver-Clean Tool" and "Registry Checker" which i always used (old i think). finally i used "jv16 Power Tools 2005" to clean the reg and did a search for Nero/ahead. well........i followed your advise installed Nero 7, but i got the same result. i then installed, did a clean and reinstall Nero 6 and its working perfectly without a system restore. this is so strange, never ever had this kind of problem with Nero or any kind of software.
Honestly, I have no clue what you're using to clean/wipe out and or uninstall your Nero 7 and Nero 6. I've never had any issues uninstalling and reinstalling Nero by using the "Nero General Clean Tool." Once I completed running the General Clean Tool, I'll just download the latest updates from Nero (whatever that I need only) and reinstall it back on my system. That's it... it's pretty sweet. You definitely need Nero's Clean Tool. Go here http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html and download "Nero General Clean Tool" (make sure to click/check on "Clean All") to run and completely wipe out all of its files/products from your system. Then "restart" your computer right away to take effects. After restarted, re-run "Nero General Clean Tool" again just make sure everything is gone. If you want to, you can search for any Nero related items/files via START, RUN and type regedit and searches for any left over and delete them if found. Hopefully you'll get it this time.
sorry i should have made my self more clear. this is what i originally did [bold]first i used "Your Uninstaller 2006 pro" which installs programs and scans the reg for any dormant files. i then ran the Nero "Driver-Clean Tool" and "Registry Checker" which i always used (old i think). finally i used "jv16 Power Tools 2005" to clean the reg and did a search for Nero/ahead.[/bold] i then folled your advise to see it would work [bold]I would say go to Nero's website and get "Nero General Clean Tool" to run, then click on "clean all" and run it to wipe out everything. You need to download Nero 7 and it will automatically uninstall Nero 6 and then install Nero 7 with the same preferences and serial number that you had for Nero 6. If you are just using the demo then it will have your serial and then demo. If you purchase the full version online then you will have to run an update, ( which should start automatically) and then reboot which should be done automatically. If you purchased the full version then after an update and reboot the Demo title should be replaced with Nero 7 Professional. The example of same preferences is if you did not have In CD installed in previous version then it will not be installed in Nero 7 and the folder assignments and bit rate recording settings will stay the same. The folders and personal settings stay the same. I have not had any problems with Nero since I waited until early on the 9th of November after I talked to Nero.
thanks very much for the help, and a extra shout out for baddog. i read your reply 2 days ago but was very sceptically as it seemed to go against all the usual procedures involved in installing software. but today i thought "this is it one last try" followed your advice, installed, loaded some mp3's up and away it went. couldn't believe it. thanks again
