This is my second of what is going to be several posts about Xbox modding. I have never even played on an Xbox, but now my daughter wants me to back up her games. I have no clue. Is the Hyper X modchip acceptable for what I am going to do? Also, should I change the HDD while I'm in there?
I'm reading about the Hyper X, and I really don't know much about it. The installation looks pretty similar to the Xecuter 3 CE, just not a whole lot of wires. According to MaxConsole it shows a pic of the BIOS screen, so it does look like this should be fine to use. You will have to Flash your BIOS to get a modded Dashboard etc. To learn more about Flashing your system go to this. It is the same process for the Hyper X (I think...). As for a larger HDD, the stock HDD is 8-10GB, and for backing up games you need to use the HDD. I personally would go with a larger HDD, but whatever you want to do, that's your choice. If you plan on getting a larger HDD, check HDD Compatability and look up the HDD you are planning to install. It should tell you here if it's compatabile or not. The process for backing up your games is: 1. You need DVD2Xbox to burn the game onto the xbox HDD 2. You then FTP the game from the xbox HDD to your PC a. For an FTP program I would use FlashFXP, cause it is simple 3. On your computer you need an XISO Program that can make the Game files into an XISO so that the xbox can recognize it. 4. Once you create an image with an XISO Program, you burn the image to a disc using Nero (or some other burning software) That is basically it, if you need anymore assistance PM me or just respond in the forum.
