I was given an xbox that at one point in time was modded but the chip was taken out and the hd was deleted before it came to me. I have a second unmodded xbox that belongs to my cousin and i only have like a week with it before it gets shipped back to him. I was wondering, now i have a new 40 gig hd, is it possible to hook his hd up to the computer i am on copy the files and then transfer them to the new hd. would that make my xbox work like a factory xbox again?

You need to salvage the eeprom from the one with the deleted HDD!

Don't worry about the other Xbox, just use my 'XboxHDM Hotswap' tutorial to get you running again!

As long as your PC drive use DVD, there shouldn't be an issue!

I only recommend a CD-RW in the event that there is a problem with the XboxHDM disc and you need to reburn. Saves on discs!

ok i start the xbox and let it go to the screen with the error, i then turn on the comp and hit pause/break to stop the comp from loading. i then insert my disc and restart the comp after i have switched the ide cable. when i restart the computer it takes the comp through a little process and and says it is looking for the usb stuff and tells me how many it found. then it says looking for hd after about 5 mins. then the damn cd never loads. i lookied at the guide for the files that are needed and i got them. when i make it an iso everything is fine but it just wont boot up the damn cd. i am begining to get frustrated with this xbox man. am i doing someting wrong. i mean i dont have a cd-rw so i have been using cd-r and i even tried a dvd-r just to see if it was the problem. i dont understand what i am doing wrong.
