Ok guys I am working on an Everex StepNote LM7WZ Notebook. The guy justcame with it, wanted his computer reformatted. So I did it and everything went great! Except I cannot get the audio drive to install for the life of me. I have tried 3 different drivers. And what was so nice about this company was, in the root of the c: folder they made a folder and labeled it "drivers" so I didnt even have to look for them. But anyway I have tried the drivers that came with it, I have tried the drivers off of www.everex.com, and I have tried the drivers from www.realtek.com It's an AC'97 and its missing a file when I install I click on cancel and it says would you like to skip this file and continue to install? I click yes and it will keep going. My otgher pc does this so I figured it was normal. but this one wont install it gives me error code "39" and I am running win Xp Sp2 upgraded via windows update to XP Sp3. Help! Thnx
Try a few more... they don't tell the truth these manufacturers.. http://sound-drivers.org/ apparently... try installing the chipset driver first, reboot, install the UAA Microsoft KB888111 file second, reboot, and install the audio driver last and reboot again. Hopefully this will repair your audio: Chipset: http://www.everex.com/support/lm7wz/...ds/chipset.exe Audio: http://www.everex.com/support/lm7wz/...oads/audio.exe KB888111 Microsoft UAA: http://hf.xable.net (scroll down until you see KB888111 and click the green 'Download' in the right hand column) I usually boot sabayon4 or bt2 to see which hardware they detect.. narrows down the guesswork quite a lot.. except for a retarded e-system lappy I can't find the vga and modem driver for.
