I have 2 MKV files of a video on my PC. None of my players can read this file, what is a plater or a codec that can read these files. Also does anyone know of a program that can convert MKV into a DVD file or into an AVi file. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

do a search for Matroska codec pack. I installed it a while ago and haven't had problems with any codecs since. while you're at it, download a copy of VSO's video convertor> it's freeware and does a good job of converting to dvd.

Well once I have Matroska installed, what do I do then? Just run the file?

I got the MKV file to work, all I need now is a program that can convert it into AVi, any suggestions about what program I should use that isn't too hard to use.
