i am having trouble with my external hard drive can anyone help?

    i have just recently brought an external case for my note book hard drive after connecting to my laptop it popped up with generic void usb drive havent a clue what the problem is can anyone help?
    or does anyone no what i need to make it work?
    i have also tried installing the drivers on the disc has popped up with corrupt any help on were to find the drivers also?

    what windows, what make of drive enclosure, what make & size of drive & is anything on the drive?

    win xp drive, enclosure off ebay (dont show make)2.5" hitachi hard drive from a laptop, and theres a few bits on drive.

    but having stuff on the drive doesnt effect it because i also have a 3.5" enclosure and all my stuff from before was still on that one, and it works!

    Windows XP will ALWAYS register an unbranded USB enclosure as plug and play. If it doesn't work after that, the cable or enclosure is probably broken - usually the enclosure, most of the hard disk enclosures I've seen on ebay are so poorly made that they won't last very long before breaking.
