    Hi all!

I am tired of my psp and the lacklustre game library. I recently picked up a DS Lite and have been researching the whole homebrew scene.

Now I know the conventional method requires one to use at least two pieces of hardware with a memory card in order to play NDS roms and homebrew.

I also know that most of these popular pieces of hardware tend to stick out from the bottom and most have horrible compatibility. blah blah blah.

My question is which is the best solution? what is most cost effective and easy along with having high compatiblity with homebrew and all NDS roms (i wont be playing GBA roms). Also it shouldn't stick out from the bottom.

What's your take on this? What are the suggestions?

    Thanks and regards! :)

P.S. I have heard of the DS-X which first of all sounds fake and if released will be too expensive and would have many quality control issues. At least that's what I think.

The DS-X is most likly not fake (what makes you think it is?) and the price is reasonable, don't forget that you would need to buy a GBA cart, media card, card reader and passcard if you bought everything seperatly it will probably come to about the same price as the DS-X.

    Anyhows, onto your main questions:

The [bold]best[/bold] solution would be an M3, all of the current M3's stick out of the DS Lite, but there is an M3 Lite that will soon be released. the M3 range can play pretty much everything, DS games, GBA games, all homebrew.

The most [bold]cost effective[/bold] would be a Supercard Lite, this plays most DS games and homebrew, it's GBA support isn't great but shouldn't bother you as you won't be playing GBA games.
I personally havn't had any good experiences with supercards, so don't like them. But many people use them so they can't be too bad.

    Hey Mr Hanky!

I was hpoing you'd reply as you seem pretty knowledgable about the whole DS scene.

Right, so M3 lite sounds wonderful. How does it fare up to the g6 lite?

Ha! I shall be listening intently to this thread as I asked pretty much the same question! Mr_Hanky suggested the G6 Lite to me as I said I wanted something that didnt need any extra pieces of hardware eg card readers etc bought for it. I must admit though, the M3 does sound very good, lots of people have been bigging it up..

The G6 Lite comes with it's own USB 'burner' and inbuilt memory of 4Gb (512MB) It has the highest compatibility of DS games anywhere and has very good GBA support, the only real downside is that not all homebrew works on it (DSorganise for example)

The M3 Lite will require a MicroSD card and card reader, it's DS compatibilty is the same as the G6 (as they are made by the same people) and has the best GBA support I have ever used. All homebrew works with it, and it can even load different types of the same homebrew (types meant for other carts :p )

I currently have a G6 Lite and an M3CF, I use my G6 for all my DS and GBA games, and occasionally use the M3 for homebrew. I will probably get a M3 Lite soon after it's release.

True, the M3 Lite is very cool BUT it has a very unpolished finish to it even though it made by the same people who make the G6. check the following thread to know what I talking about. It utilizes the microSD cards which is another 15-40 bucks.

The G6 lite seems to be the most effective solution as it has on-board memory (which I presume one can use to store NDS and GBA roms). Homebrew is not much of a problem as the NDS roms will keep me busy till I get bored of my DS.

The DS-X sounds very good also. BUT do take a look at the rusty looking USB connector, it does not exactly exude durability. The thing looks like it'll pop off any minute. Plus by the time they'll release it and go through the mandatory first defective batch... i'll be done with my DS craze.

VERDICT: G6 Lite is the winner for being the most aesthetically pleasing and with decent durability.

Any contest to my findings please be brought forward! :)

Good choice, just don't forget you need a passcard3 to use DS mode.

I see what your saying about the USB connector on the DS-X, i don't think i would trust it to stay their for the life of my DS.

The finish of the M3 lite does seem poorer quality than i was hopeing, perhaps they'll improve it later on (like with their slim SD etc.)

Think i'll go to bed now, my caffine supply has run out :p (urgh 1:30am)
