After i installed a 80 pin ide cable, I updated my chip set. Then i check to make sure DMA is enabled but my advanced settings tab is gone now. When i check the properties for the primary drive or secondary there is no advance setting tab. whats up with that? Where did it go? I can not check to see if im in PIO or DMA mode. The option is just not there. I am able to view my I/O ranfe which is 01F0-01F7 , the other I/O is 03F6-03F6. The IRQ is 15, . Does anyone know what thyis means? Did this info replace my advance settings tab?

Did you install Intel Application Accelerator? It will automatically set everyting to DMA, but will remove the Advanced Tab. Uninstall it and you should get that tab back.

    alex808,
You are probably in DMA but the only way I know is to remove Intel Application Accelerator and then check. You might try a movie and if the times are out of sync then there are conflicts w/in the OS and the OS is dropping the DMA 1 step for each 6 conflicts. You might install a registry cleaner ( google for some free ones) as that might clean up most of the conflicts
