Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. It also adds more media codes and write strategies to the drive to improve burning capabilities and disk recognition. Doing a firmware upgrade should only improve your drive.

I can't find anything for your drive.... I can't find YOUR DRIVE AT ALL on any list!

are these your hard drives or are they virtual drives. if they are hard drives then you need to turn on the DMA:
    http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues
If these are virtual drives then this could cause havoc with Nero... shut them off!

free up some memory so Nero can work better! No multi tasking, no internet, and shut down programs running in the background that are unnecessary.

Your RW disk is not empty and it doesn't like it:
use good media! Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim!

try these changes and see if you have better luck!

No the disc is not empty but I tried to delete it with maney softwares! and also when I try to burn in Nero it tells me "Writing to disc will erase any existing data on it. Do you want to proceed".. I say yes.. but I still get the Illegal Disc message.. I thought maybe something is wrong with disc so I tried 3 others discs and same story..

    Disabling virtual drives:
    RIGHT CLICK on My Computer/Properties/Hardware tab/Device Manager/ DVD/CD-ROM drives
RIGHT CLICK on the virtual drive.... hit Properties..... where is says, THIS DEVICE IS WORKING PROPERLY (enabled).... hit the drop down menu there and hit DISABLE

Your drive is an OEM version of a LITE-ON DVDRW LH-16W1P and you can read more here:

    seems to be problematic!

well now you do have problems..... so if you ask and don't like the advice.... keep going on thinking your way and see if it helps! keep on having problems. why ask for advice in the first place if you don't want to take the advice? but you know better than I do. what do I know?

what brands are these disks? If they are the same RW disks..... then I suggest you don't use an RW disk! since you are now having problems with your drive and your software from working properly.... I suggest you use better media that is most recognized by most burners and software! Does this sound logical? Sure.... make sure that by using the best media around you can now eliminate the media problem and see if it starts to correct your main problem... YOU CAN'T BURN A DVD! then we can go on from there.......... I suggest that since it's hard to do a firmware update...... go out and buy Verbatim 8x media! make sure it's made in Singapore/Taiwan and stay away from the MADE IN INDIA stuff! Read the label. These disks are more available in stores. But if you want better media .... go online and buy the Taiyo Yuden DVD+R, 8x media... it's all I use as my burner is now 3 yrs old and it burns perfectly with these disks all the time. The newer media is the 16x stuff..... older drives with old firmware might have a problem with the newer media out there. If you want to know more about media then read this:
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
the media guide here is not without it's faults. TDK media is second rate at best and does not belong in the FIRST CLASS area! I would not get these as they are not top notch media! Also read about booktyping your media! it shows you how!

maybe ..... just maybe if you do these changes ....... you might be back to burning again...... hopefully it's not your burner!
