I CANT convert avi to dvd. Not I dont know how, I CANT!!!

No matter what I use, it just crashes or has a problem.

Winavi converter does an illegal operation.
TMPGenc has a P3Package.dll read error
VSO DivxToDVD got to 11% and wouldnt go any further

Just nothing will work! I'm doing it right, I've read guide after guide after guide. It's my computer being retarded.

So, any ideas on how to fix it?!?!?!?!

 

maybe for us to help you , you need to give us more info.

What are your pc stats?
what programs installed on your pc?
when you boot up, how many applications are shown down near the clock?
Can you do a CTRL+ALT+DELETE AND then tell me how many processes you have running?(33 is fine)
When did you defrag last?
when was the last clean install?
what media do you use?

As you can see there are numerous questions asked and we really need the info to help you.

Or just with 1 specific file ?

Maybe that specific file is just plain bad (Wrongly Encoded)...

 

What are your pc stats? AMD atlon 1800, 512mb SDram, 40 gig hard drive partitioned into 10 and 30, 80 gig hard drive, 120 gig hard drive.

About 7 or 8

When did you defrag last? Havn't since last format

when was the last clean install? Of windows I'm guessing? less than 6 months ago

what media do you use? The files are divx avis


As for the one specific file, it's any file. I successfully converted them all into VOBs, but then dvdlab didnt like them and wouldnt compile them, only give me a 50mb blank menu with dead links. Now I can't even convert to VOB anymore without the program crashing.

 

what other programs have you tried , like to re author.Ican t answer for another 1 or so days after you read this, got to do a clean install but i will be back

By re-author do you mean convert or make a dvd?

I usually use ulead DVD workshop, but it's compression is terrible, and ya need to let it do the whole dvd worth to test it. It puts out 20 gig dvds which ya need to dvd shrink down.

So yeah, have only used dvdlab.

As for converting, used: Winavi converter, TPMGenc plus and express, VSO divx to dvd

the problem is
because your avi file it's not a real avi....
beleve me...
you need install: mkvtoolnix-unicode-1.5.0
after install run the prog and
when u see the tab input click add ut your avi file
and take off audio you dont want
go to output file (not in the same folder)!!!!
and save with MKV extention
after try again with winavi.. you will see it's work!!!

TMPGEnc doesnt like the mkv files, as in, it wont open them at all.

 

tmpgenc isnt designed for mkv files.If you want to take that approach you will need avi2dvd which mkv and ogg files can then be converted with

 

Authoring

Other authoring processes include VCD authoring and SVCD authoring. In both processes, authors can create menus and chapter selections and various other tasks before the structure is ready for CD burning, pretty much like in DVD authoring (just in more limited scale).

I didnt suggest you use tmpgenc express with your converted files but tmpgenc dvd author which this program will reconize the files that vso divx to dvd has converted for you.

after use mkv toolmix
to reencoding....take 5 min....(he save with MKV extention)
save other folther...and try your madiaPlayer to read....

if it work's use TMPGenc to convert in VCD (close assistant)
choose in video source the MKV file(use in file type all files(*.*)
u dont lost a lot of quality
after you work with virtualdub to save in avi file
I do that under 1h-1/2 with nice quality....not perfect....but nice
but I use only freeware for that job!!!!
