Basically the subject explains it. I open up the ratDVD in ratdvd and i click on convert and it converts it into a file that doesn't have an extension. It says its converted succesful but the file its saved as is a extension less one. i tried adding .iso and .avi but they dont work. with .iso WinRAR sees a video_0 folder but when i try to extract it it says its corrupted. any one know whats going on? im really tired of trying anything else since converting it takes like 4 hours
Unfortunately, the answer is incredibley simple and compounds the pain of all the wasted time I spent trying to solve this problem. All you have to do is before you convert the .ratdvd file change its name something shorter. For some odd reason, the program encounters an error when it tries to convert files with long names. You can even leave out the .ratdvd extension. However, once you then convert it you'll probably come upon the problem that the dvd is in PAL not NTSC, the format widely used in the states. If you have a solution for converting PAL to NTSC, i would greatly appreciate it!
Not sure where everone is seeing these options. When I downloaded RATDVD, the only icon I get at the bottom is the DVD to RatDVD and cant find an option to 'burn' the DVD event though I have NERO and SHRINK, ETC can find NERO just fine. The only think so far I can find as options for RatDVD is to convert a RatDVD to a VIDEO_TS folder which is ok for burning but looks like I need to burn with another program even though you guys say RatDVD will burn a DVD. Also, I unclicked the 'low priority' button and the conversion went from abut 8 hours for a 3GB file to 6 hours. Is this normal? I am on a 512mg, 2 GB Intel.
If you click OFF the 'low Prioroty button', it tells the computer to give more cpu time to the conversion.
I tried that and it cut the time down to about 8 hours. also mis-stated my PC, it is a 3ghz Intel with 1gb memory.
This thread originally was made because someone had a problem and I want to get back to that. Since I am experiencing the same problem. The 'convert ratDVD to DVD' page (http://www.ratdvd.dk/ratdvd_to_dvd.htm) states it is possible to convert a ratDVD directly into an ISO image if Nero 6 is installed. I have Nero 6 installed and still doesn't get it to work. I've been through the FAQ but my specific problem isn't included. There are two subjects treat this problem: (http://www.ratdvd.dk/faq.htm#NoBurn) (http://www.ratdvd.dk/faq.htm#NoRecorder) According to this I should be able to find my answer at the Nero website, I very much doubt I will find it there since Nero is working properly. I think the solution lies somewhere else and I there are some things that I consider to be very odd: at this image there are [bold]three[bold] options: 1) target 2) options 3) burn settings this is an image of what I get to see: Note that I don't even have the option: burn settings and that my 'target' can't be changed (note it is grey). I think this is causing the problem. I already tried to re-install but that doesn't help. I hope someone has an idea of how to fix this. I would be very greatfull and probably many people with me since I don't beleive I am the only one experiencing this problem.
I finally did what any sensible person would do with such a terribly written and documented application, I said 'RATS' and gave up.
