Ive never had a problem editing my posts. If it wasnt showing up thats unusual. Here is an example of how to do it. LOL, neglected to mention that. You DO have to be logged in
Region errors! How to fix them? I used DVDShrink 3.2 to re-author and backup to DVD, tried both Region-Free and Region 1. Both burns get region errors on my Sharp and Sony players, but of course play fine in my PC. Please give me some assistance on this... My burner is a TSSTCorp DVD+-RW TS-H653B. I tried Verbatim DVD+RW 4X and VERBATIM 16X DVD-RW. Thx, Geoff
If one were to read the multiple pages at hand, one would find multiple solutions to backing this film up.
Which software programs are you using to rip and burn? Also give version numbers. Are you using Vista? 32 or 64?
My son gave me his backup file in avi format, which I converted to DVD format with Win AVI 9.0. I still have the avi file if we need to back up a step and repeat this with a different tool. Following the instructions at the beginning of this thread, I used DVDShrink to re-author the DVD files. In the Backup step, I made the changes for Region: first time specified Region-Free and next time Region 1. Both get region errors on both the Sony and Sharp players. DVDShrink burned it at 2.4x onto the DVD+RW platter and at 8x on the DVD-R. I didn't go max speed on either one. Any ideas?
Yep the avi that you downloaded is a different region. This isn't something Shrink can fix. You need to convert the avi from PAL to NTSC or vice versa depending on which region you are in. Nero Vision will do this and so does ConvertXtoDVD. I do not know about WinAVI. You can also try vobblanker - vobblanker will 'mask' the files fooling the dvd player into thinking it's the right region/format. You need to use the files Shrink saved to your hard drive - this will not work w/ an avi. This method does not always work w/ all dvd players though. See this thread on vobblaker - link
Thanks for the very helpful and direct info, I had 5.1 and after updating to 5.2.2.2 it worked great. There are several titles out there with "redundancy errors" either bad burns or by intention. Thanx again for sharing.
Once again.... The sure-fire way is: 1. Rip to hard disk with ANY DVD. 2. Then, open files with DVD Shrink. 3. If you have Vista 64 bit you then have to manually open the file and burn with Nero. Because the newest versions of Nero don't like DVD Shrink. OR.... use DvdFab 5.2.2.2 as mentioned in the post above.
hi all, Spent some time reading all the forums and after a considerable length of time have successfully backed up the dark knight by using DVD fab 5.2.1.2, (probably nothing special now but all the same...) ran it through dvd shrink (movie only) to get the .VOB file, however i am struggling to convert this to Mpeg4 to use on my ipod (Im hoping this isnt against the rules) & this is my own copy etc. and apologies if theres a different thread to use, just figured that this seemed the most appropriate. I have successfully done it this way with other titles, Im using Videora converter 4.04 to convert the files but get the same error that seems to be a common problem, however with so many threads and so little time i was hoping someone might have a quick answer. The error is: Your video failed to convert, error code:100503 Your video could not be converted due to bad bit rate, frame rate or resolution setting. Any help would be appreciated! Crookles
I have tried DVD Smith on many movies. The results do not come close to DVDFab or AnyDVD. Most bad sectors are not removed. A user has to be really experienced in other software in order to clean up these files. Even FixVTS cannot clean everything that DVD Smith leaves behind. While DVDFab does not produce the cleanest rips, it does a hell of a lot better than DVD Smith. I do not recommend this software to anyone who is serious about making a good clean backup.
OBVIOUSLY a bot, spammer, trying to push their product! Ehhh...i'll stick with what I have thank you very much
Methinks you're spamming us. Dialysis is right on, i wouldn't use or recommend this software to anyone who wants a good, quality backup.
anybody still having trouble with this one shouldn't be near a pc anyway, much less using crap software. The 1 D 10 T error!
