Hi! I'm having a major, super, apparently unfixable problem with my computer.

Here's what happens, I turn on my computer like normal. Although now it's taking a lot longer to load, but I'll get to that in a minute... it loads, I do, whatever on it for a time. A long time usually, the better part of a day. I turn the screen off and leave it on to continue sharing torrent files, or whatever.

Anyway, by the time I wake up or shortly into the next day, it will crash. Now, it's not a typical crash. It's a crash that contains no text at all, no error message. What happens is a simple blue screen comes up, that looks something like a desktop background. It's blue and it goes in a diagonal line like this /, all across the screen. I can't see anything. Apparently, the programs still run underneath this, screen, but I can't see them. If audio was going, I can still hear the audio, but nothing else. Also, if I'm watching a movie in full-screen mode at the time, instead of crashing to the blue desktop thing, instead little black lines pop up that are also diagonal like the blue background.... or rather, foreground.

As far as I can tell, I have no possible idea what is causing it. I have tried getting in touch with Dell support many times, and if I get them on the phone, I get someone who speaks in broken English, and I can barely understand them. Or I go online and talk to them, and they take forever to respond, talk in broken English, and they all say I should do different things.

I have even gone and reinstalled Windows using this as a guide http://www.windowsxphome.windowsreinstall.com/installxpcdrepair I encountered a few problems while doing it, like error messages saying my disc didn't past Windows Logo testing or something, but apparently it went through.

I then couldn't get any sound, so I found a driver off Dell's site and installed that. I thought, well, my troubles are over, I've completely wiped Windows, anything that was going wrong with it should be gone by now.

It isn't. It crashed on me, about an hour or so after I had logged onto Guild Wars.

So, I am fresh out of any... ANY ideas of what to do. I don't know how to delete EVERYTHING ON THE COMPUTER EVER, but even if I did, that would set me back so far. I've lost many discs to things I've already installed, don't have registration numbers anymore, there's all kinds of files here, and bookmarks, and cookies, and whatnot. I don't want to have to just start this thing from scratch again, but unless someone out there has any idea of how to fix this, it looks like I'm going to have to.

In which case, someone please tell me how to start this thing up again from scratch. Thanks.

I don't do dares, but since you do the torrents, check for a virus.

I would add that I have no sympathy for you, but that would be unkind, so I won't say it.

if everything is still running in the background when you have the diagonial blue screen than i would try another videocard to see if still does it or not. start saving your info on cds as 1 day you will loose all your info off your hd for some reason.

I got more help on a GameFAQs board than here, and GameFAQs is notorious for having non-helpful people... that's saying something, that I got more help from them than you guys.
