i've never seen this posted anywhere before, so i thought i'd share this.

i was fackin' around with my PS2 and found a new method to play burned games. you don't need anything special at all. my ps2 is completely bone stock, no modchip, i dont have swapmagic/gameshark/armax or anything. just as a note, my PS2 model is: SCPH-50001/N

it involves the old white pin card trick everybody knows about for gameshark and armax.

step 1: turn the playstation 2 on with NO DISC in the drive. go to the browser where you can choose the memory card to browse.

step 2: if you want to play a burned *PS1* game, open the drive normally with eject and put in a real PS1 game. ANY will work. similarly, use a real PS2 game if you are gonna play a burned PS2 game. if you want to play a burned *CD* use a real PS2 *CD* or for a burned *DVD* use a real PS2 *DVD* --- you can't swap a PS2 dvd with a CD or vice versa.

step 3: okay, now do the old credit card + white pin trick. i'm sure you all know it. open the drive manually, take out the real disc... put in your burned disc... manually(GENTLY) push the tray back in. put the white pin back where it was.

step 4: OKAY!! you're done. select the PS disc on the browser menu, hit X and watch your totally stock PS2 play any burned disc ya want. :)

i don't know why i've never seen this posted anywhere. it's so simple.

    NOTICE

uh actually, a quick revision on those steps... i posted it like immediately after i found out it worked heh.

you HAVE to use a real PS1 whether you're playing a burned PS1 OR PS2 game. it works fine. you cant seem to switch out from an original PS2 disc.

I also agree that a video would be great so that I may attempt a similar backup method.

Umm this may be a stupid question but are tou making a exact copy of a playstation 2 disc (as I did) or are you using ps2 patcher or something like that? Please tell me you method. Also how do you get the disc out if it dosen't stop spinning? I opened it up and took it out from the top.

i forgot to say the little white pin (you might need a flash light to see it easier) is just to the right of the tay's center immediately under it.

So is there a video? If not and you still intend to make one, please also include your back up method.

Well if halfeaten confirms it works then it works.... and by the way, the white pin is visible after you take off the drive tray cover thing. the slide card method he is talking about.

um...I am not about to go try it on one guy claiming when it works. Also everyone who've tried it say it doesn't work. Have you tried it?

I remember using this method for loading PS1 backups awhile ago, but for PS2 games there are a load of factors that effect whether or not it works. Cant say i really like the fact that the disc is still spinning, really isnt good for the PS2.

But yes i can confirm that this works.

Does the original ps2 game have to be the same as the burned one?
i.e could you load an original FIFA game, and swap it with a burned Madden disc???
