It might not work on V9, V9+ has lots of little "tweaks" done to it that make certain things harder to do.

When I tried it i used a V7 which has long been dead, and my current V5 is so nearly dead the only disc i let near it is my exploit booting PS1 game. So cant really confirm.

I'm thinking of giving it a go with my mate's stock PS2....but I don't know if he'll let me.
Seems as though theres no harm in trying apart from the chance that the clips might break, which you can just glue back on anyway.

Doesn't work using a different backup game than the original, but maybe it's my timing????if that has anything to do with it....
My PS2 is a SCPH - 39002, and it didn't work on that....just comes up with the red screen saying to insert a PS2 disc...
Would like to see a video if this method is actually valid....

so basically, u guys are doing this on a phat PS2 by :

    1) Go to browser screen
    2) Put in Real PS2 disc
    3) Wait for it to show in browser
    4) Swap to fake PS2 disc (of a different game I am assuming)
    5) Play the game

    Is this correct?

I tried it that way, and it didn't work at all.
The Playstation isn't chipped is it?
Surely this doesn't work.....someone must have done it well before now.

I tested this, I can verify that it works using PS1 backups. Can't verify the PS2 discs yet as I have not yet tested, I do not like the way the disc immediately stops spinning. Don't think it's good for the PS2. But it's good way for me to play my PS1 backups, but I'll continue to use my Swap Magic for my PS2 backups.

    -Mike

EDIT : I can confirm that this does NOT work with PS2 backups.

    hmm
so it works with psx backups

    but not ps2dvd backups

we need to find a new trick
    where the motor stops spinning

if you can do that in browser
    im sure it will work

    well anyways

for those who did get this to work

    why not post a video?

Hey, I just got something like this to work on my mate's unmodded PS2, but it involves some steps to initially be done on a modded PS2.
It's similar to the tutorial described here:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/291684
but I think you don't even need ARMAX.

It's very similar, but some steps were changed. Interested?

nah, exploits work ^^ most of us know that, I am just interested in ways of not using an exploit so that it can work with out prior setup.

No worries.....I'd never heard of it before...
The setup is so much easier with a modded PS2....
and then using it on a modded PS2 is pretty basic.
But anyway, back on topic....I don't think the method described works. I tried about 10 times and nothing happened.

Well, I just got a backup of RoadRash3D. I tried this method, using real PS1 "Crash Team Racing". I clicked the black cd, and it brought me to the Red, Yellow, turquise and blue logo screen, but stopped at that. I'll give it another go, maybe it's the game. I'll get more backups and if this does work with any, I'll let you know which ones, and which ones it hasn't.

Well, RoadRash3d doesn't work with either Gran Turismo 2, or Crash Team Racing CDs.

For those that got this to work, can you please post:-
    1. The version console you have
    2. The original PS1 disc you used
    3. The backup PS2 disc you used (and if it was a striaght copy or a rebuild)
    4. and is the disc still spinnning when you manually eject the tray, with the Playstation continuing to make that "Voom, Voom, Voom" sound.

Maybe it has something to do with the TOC size of the game....dunno...

This probaly doesn't work with PS2 DVDs. The PS2 starts making a messed up engine like sound while swapping and once the games have been swapt the disc no longer spins.
