i regulary burn using shrink, then nero.i use verbatim dvd+r's.everything used to be great every dvd i burned played on every player Known to man.now they will only play in my bedroom player.they will not play in my portable or my living room standalone.i have my booktype set to dvd-rom in nero burning rom se in nero ver.6,also have my booktype set to dvd-rom in nero express.when i use shrink and nero i have the little box ticked that says"booktype dvd with nero".i have a sony dru 710a,i use verbatim dvd+r 16x,and i burn at 4x.im doing everything by the book.i thought when you booktyped your dvd+r's they will work on any dvd player.my portable and my living room standalone are both progressive scan players,so what gives.any elp deeply appreciated.thanx
is your firmware up to date, newest is BYX5 if not get it here - http://sony.storagesupport.com/dvdrw/dru710adwn.htm I have the same drive and use 16x verbs also and have never had a prob. Have you tried using decrypter to burn with, you can booktype with your sony using the lite-on tab. peace
i do have latest firmware.i tried burning with decrypter, and when i click on folder movie is in,it shows nothing is in folder,i have"all formats"selected.why did nero stop being reliable all of a sudden.
i dont know what happened.i have good verbatim dvd+r's.i burn nice and slow.i check the disc after i burn it,and the computer recognizes the content on the disc,i booktype to dvd-rom.i have the latest firmware.dma is enabled.it worked all the time until friday, now nothing will load on my standalone it says"no valid disc". someone please tell me what the possible problem is.can someone tell me what the best settings are for nero to get the best possible playable burn.

Hi. Ram memory is VERY low... You need to free up some more somehow. close everything working in the background including the net connection and the firewall/antivirus. But to be honest i would strongly consider an upgrade to at least 512Mb. I'm sure the media allows it but to be on the safe side, i recomend burning @ 4x. It looks pretty good but i would consider those two points.
@dvdfreak1 I can only see 2 things in the log that your should correct. Get this drive back in DMA mode - here's a guide if needed: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf Not alot of ram to begin with but free up as much as you can. No multi tasking and shut down any unnecessary processes. The log shows you burning at 6x instead of 4x- take it down a notch. These will probably not help with the playback issue. For the 2 they don't play in try a len's cleaner.
i downloaded the lite on utility that booktypes dvd+r's,cause im told my burner(sony dru-710a) is a rabagged lite on.will this do anything as far as helpin my problem?
To be honest mate, there's nothing wrong with that burner, it is a good machine. The fact that you have very low Ram available for the process is a serious issue. XP (i suppose that's your OS) tends to tie itself in knots over time and that kinda slows down the whole process... That's the only reasonable reason i find to the fact that you burnt before but now it's not working... Try a complete clean up to see if you can free up some RAM.
Hi I'm new to this burning dvd thing, but anyway I burn madagascar with dvd fab it worked but I don't know what to do now don't know where it went or nothing (software I have dvdfab, shrink, nero). Question: What do I do after dvdfab please help give me step by step Thank you
@dvdfreak1 Booktyping the disc will make the disc appear to be a dvd rom which is almost universally compatible. This may help the playback. Try the lens cleaner too - those lens do get dusty. And as permiggs points out your ram defintely needs upgrading! @flex19146 Welcome to aD! One thing though you should start a new thread or search to see if someone else had the same prob. Your question has nothing to do with this one. Here's a guide to help you out: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/guides.htm try the 1st one.
