i don't want SP2 but i want a program that needs it

    Ok so as the title states i want to install this software but i get an error message saying i need SP2 in order to install it. However i don't want SP2. Is there some sort of way i can install it but avoid sp2?

    nope, your gonna have to install SP2. Its not all that bad. I hesitited for a while but finally upgraded a few months ago. I have no complaints, all my apps still work find under SP2.

    my apps aren't what im worried about, i use torrents a lot and i heard that sp2 dramatically decreases the speed of downloadin torrents.

    i too do a lot of torrenting, and haven't noticed any speed differences from SP1 to SP2

    It does not effect torrents. And all Sp2 is as the best to my knowledge is a lil crappy Microsoft firewall that does nothing. Install it and then use an alternate firewall. :)

    seeing as how u people are senior members ill take your word for it. But if thats true then why are there so many rumors of SP2 slowin down torrent speeds?

    They're not rumors, they are problems that CAN arise, but they don't always do.
    Some people have problems because SP2 changes your halfopen TCP connections to 10.
    There are patches that fix that.
    Now get that SP2 before some scriptkiddie gets into your system, and start doing regular updates.
