I get an "illegal disc" error

    every time i try to burn an iso file onto a dvd i keep getting illegal dic error from nero this is the first time it happens, i think its the new blank dvds i got, they are Verbatim DVD-R 16x

    Your log looks pretty clean, except 3 things below.

    Your burner's firmware version is too old, it needs to update to the latest, it's current is BYS3 http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1944
    but it doesn't have the "zip file download" at rpc forum, so you'll have to go to sony's site at http://sony.storagesupport.com and get it.

    Nero is too old, it needs to update to the latest 6.6.0.18

    This is a little too close to the edge, try to customize to at least 4400MB.
