I am using a Dual Boot configuration with windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 Pro and I have Roxio easy cd/dvd 7 suite on the Windows XP partition and Nero Ultra 6.6 on the Windows 2000 partition. I mainly use these two programs for Data or for VCDs. I am having a huge Problem with Roxio on the XP partition. Every time I try to move something or drag something, windows installer starts up and then it tries to install Roxio 7 again. I am assuming it wants to install Roxio Drag to Disc because I got rid of that, for obvious reasons. Is there a way that I can stop Roxio from wanting to launch Drag to disc every time I try to move something. It is very annoying and I have to cancel the installer three times before I can move anything. Also, if I let it get to about 50% (which only takes about 1 second) it will eat up all my resources and freeze my computer and I have to manually end it from task manager. I don't understand the purpose of Drag to Disc. It just makes everything harder. Also, it is acting like a virus, trying to install itself. I know I do not have any virus or anyhting else on my PC. My antivirus stops everything (and I mean everything!!!). I also have a firewall and I use Firefox with extra security.
my honest opinion is to offload roxio off ur system nero does everything alot better than roxio plus they do clash and i believe roxio can give u system32 errors!!!!!
JaguarGod My suggestion is just the opposit of his. Get rid of Nero completely. The latest version of Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 does all that Nero does and more.
Have a read of this guide by the great ScubaPete, (hallowed be his name!) I guarantee you WILL get results! http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/141054 Pulsar
I second "mybarras" - you need to ditch "Roxio" out from your computer and let Nero alone, Nero definitely can do a better job than Roxio. I guarantee you that after ditching Roxio, you won't have anymore headaches. Unless, you're the few that Roxio is actually doing the task flawlessly.
From the XP start button: Select "Run", and Type msconfig, then "enter". Select "start up" and uncheck the box for Roxio drag to disk and for that matter, any other Roxio application as well. There is no need for these programs to autoload from the startup sequence. Save changes and rebbot.
