    Hi,

    Ive got two DVR-111's, they are both the same, one is a black one and one is a beige one, but they are both exactly the same. I use nero to burn and one of my drive's will burn at a max of 40x and the other only burns at either 4x or 10x.

    Can anyone suggest any reason for this??

    I have just been on pioneers website and updated the firmware's on both of the drives to 1.29.

    Cheers

    By the way i normal copy to both the CD's at the same time. I have one of the burners on primary and other on secondary ide.

    I checked the link you sent re: DMA, and i have nvidia nforce3 parrallel ata controller.

    Both my burners are set to : Ultra DMA4 - Ultra66.

    Thats correct yes.

    I have 2 Hard Drives and Two Burners. I have a hard drive and a burner on each IDE, and i just leave all jumpers set to "Cable select" so that the position on the cable selects whether they are master or slave.

    I have the Burners on Master and the HD's on Slave.

    I dont think it makes a difference what is master what is slave.... does it??

    Cheers

    Yeah, otherwise I wouldn't have said. It can affect performance of your drives if they're not set up right.

    I'd say you have it like this...

    IDE 1:
    MASTER = DvD Drive
    SLAVE = (Secondary) HDD

    IDE 2:
    MASTER = (Main) HDD
    SLAVE = DvD Drive

    Try that ^^ :)

    Edit: If you have a Dell PC, then put the SLAVEs to CABLE SELECT. It's just how Dell PCs work.

    Hi :)
    Just from my experience. Pioneer drives appear to perform better when set/connected as Master.

    Hey zebadee! Nice to see you posting here still. :)

    And yeah, to be honest, I think most drives perform better set as MAster.

    Hi :)
    Bit out of it for a while. But back now.
    I seem to recall that Pioneer actually recommended drive set to Master (as do Plextor).
    In this case the fact that the drive set to master works at full capacity & the other set to slave doesn't. Would support this.;-)

    Exactly ^^

    The two drives are almost competing to run better I suppose.

    Yeah my current config has both of the burners as master on both the ide's.

    Does this mean that my main hd with the o/s on it is performing bad cos it is set to slave??
