mine has system software version 3.15 on my playstation3. will it still work with system software version 3.15 on my playstation3? i was thinking about buying a ps3jailbreak, i have read that it only works on currently only works on V3.41. The technicians are still working on the firmware V3.5. i read this at r4king. is this true??
UUpdate to 3.41 thru your PC and your good to go. It will be a long time, if ever that were firmwares are exploited.
If your staying at 3.15 to keep your OtherOS feature I think you shouldn't update right now because their are some devs working hard on porting the psgroove jailbreak for lower firmwares. Just a heads up, otherwise just download 3.41 firmware make a folder in your usb drive called PS3 and a folder inside that called update and put the firmware in there. From there you put your drive into the system and choose update via device and follow the onscreen instructions.
i got the update i put it on the root of my psp memory stick /ps3/update all caps, but than i get"the data is corrupted" (800F994) from my ps3 on my tv.i have a 40GB ps3 system. with 2 diffrent ps3 3.41 up date file, that i downloaded with my pc one from ps3news.the other from exophase. so why will not my ps3 update to 3.41???
i fixed it just had to copy it to my sd memory stick on my sd usb addapter.now my ps3 is on 3.41 all ready for my new ps3jailbreak i just need to find a nice fast cheap usb2.0 external hdd for all of my ps3 backups i own.
Get a nice cheap internal drive; you can get a 1TB Western Digital for just $130...a bit more than a USB 1TB, but it will have better game compatibility and faster loading times.
It's best to wait, as said above there are people trying to get the jailbreak working on firmware below 3.41. But then there are also those who are trying to get otheros back on 3.41, so either way it's back to the old waiting game. Note though that I think the playstation move controllers will only work with firmwares 3.40 and above.
Oh Well its good that you got it updated. kakarato just got the psfreedom ported to 3.01 and next he is working on 3.10, 3.15 and so on.... hope you didn't use OtherOS feature. Jailbreak for 3.15 was just released.
either way if he wa to wait someone is working on something so if he did want the otheros he can still wait but now he can enjoy the JB features while he waits

The worst part is that I was going to buy one the day before the JB was released (for something unrelated), and I figured I would wait one more day for my check to clear...now that project might as well be scrapped as I won't be able to get one of these keys for months at least.
