I'm trying to make a backup copy of a DVD, it's Dual Layer. I've used DVD decrypter to extract the files, then I've used DVD shrink to compress it to 4.7GB and chose the option to make an ISO file on my HDD and use DVD decrypter to burn it. Now here is my problem everytime I try to burn it, I always get a failed attempt right at the begining of the writing process -- the reason being I have bad media. I've bought a new pack of DVD+R's and tried using 2 of them, I got the same message. I have a Toshiba SD-R5372, and downloaded their firmware. Can somebody please help me? I've also used Alcohol 120% to burn it. Thank you in advance.
Usually the media is the cause of burn problems as well as playback problems. The rule of thumb is to use either Verbatim or some media that is Made in Japan (MIJ). Most branded media is highly variable and can come from any number of places. BTW, your drive does not bitset DVD+R, so you should be using DVD-R media; you are likely to have problems playing back +R stuff unless you are lucky enough to have a tolerant DVD player.
E20, dunker is spot on! buy some vebatim discs! rinse and repeat....lol! post back w/ ur results. narcismo
this is the best media u can get Taiyo Yuden(Online) Verbatims Sony(MIJ) Maxell(MIJ) Fuji(MIJ) MIJ=made in Japan If u r using any media besides the ones listed above that is probably the problem
