So you have successfully completed this process before without trouble, correct?

Have you recently changed the brand of blank media you are using? What you're describing sounds like a media related problem.

I agree. FixVTS will solve minor skipping problems but nothing can make up for bad media. In borderline media you can have a run of bad disks then the problem goes away so you can hit a bad spot in the middle of a stack. I only use one brand. I don't even fool with #2.

You should post an ImgBurn log of a bad session.

Yes, have you actually tried using another media brand?

Before you do (I missed this before, sorry) there is a firmware update available for your drive. Download it here.

    Code:
    HB02	6th May, 2009	sp42970.exe
(this may or may not fix your issues, but it's worth a shot)

Memorex is near the bottom of the barrel. It is 3rd tier there is not a 4th tier so there is nothing you can buy that is much worse. I ONLY use 1st tier because I don't like making coasters. I have learned 2nd tier don't age as well as making too many coasters. The only 1st tier you can buy in the states is Verbatim. There is another brand you can buy on the internet. Check out the blank media forum for more info. Try Verbatim and your burning issues will be fixed or at least fixable. Verbatim uses a different dye which allows for a slower burn. I burn at 2.5 X. I find that the most reliable for the widest range of players. We have several expensive but poor players in our house so the disks need to be perfect.

    I will like to add:
    -R's work better that +R's.
With +R even Verbatim very few times, you end up with coasters.
    hope this help ;)

Yes +Rs are supposed to be a bit better though in reality, because of the write once nature of what you do, the type is a mute point. I never even look at what type I am buying as long as the brand and price is right. When the price is right, I buy several hundred at a time. Then you are dealing with the same lot. I buy again before I go below 50. This way if I ever see a problem, I can compare with the last batch.

I would try a different brand of media just to make sure before I went out and bought a new one.I would also use a cleaning disc to make sure the laser isn't dirty. I have had intermittent problems and usually it was just bad media I was using. The error code you were getting usually has to do with your media from what I have been reading.

After I burn more that 20K Disc (All Brands, all formats, etc) in the last 10 years or so. And I end up preferring Verbatim AZO -R.
    WHY?
b/c as the DVD Drive Burner got old, it reach the point that do not recognize [Burn] +R anymore, but it continues burning -R.
Also using -R, I end up with 1 or 2 coasters once in awhile: since this world is not perfect yet. (I never been see a bad batch of blank disc's media on any of the 25,50 or 100-Disc Spindle on the -R) but you see more coasters on the +R on any brand.
