I used bbmayo's guide for converting AVI to DVD then burning it using the following programs : DivXtoDVD, DVDShrink, and DVD Decrypter. It was a movie that took a total of 12 hours for me to do everything. DVD Shrink took 10 hours alone. Is this normal or is there a way to improve it? I'm new so if it is normal, that's fine. Just curious.
well im not sure what kind of system u have or what u have running on it but 10 hrs. is way too long. it ususlly takes about 1 to 1/12hrs. with deep analysis. give some more info on ur system and explain why u had to use all those apps and i might could help.
Okay, well I'm not sure what information you need. I'm using Windows XP. My burner is internal and a Phillips DVD+-RW. I close everything before I start the process and let it go on it's own without messing with it. What else do you need to know? As I said, I'm new to this and my movie did burn and is watchable on a stand alone DVD player and great quality. I'm just wondering about the time.
Here are a few things that will help 1) defrag your HDD 2) do a disc clean up 3) scan for viruses and spyware 4) check in the device manager that your HDD and dvdwriter are not in PIO mode, both should be on DMA 5) clean your registry, with a registry cleaner To scan for spyware use Spybot - Search and Destroy and AD-Aware se personal For a registry cleaner use ccleaner http://filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/ http://filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/ http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ What are your pc specs? for example intel p4 2.8mhz with 512MB of ram(memory)
