Hi all, I've got a new Compaq Presario V2000 notebook, AMD Turion 64, 1.8 GHZ, 512 MB system memory, and the lightscribe 8x DVD+/-R/RW w/ dual layer support. If my notebook brags about the 8x speed, why is Nero only burning at 2x?? Could I need more system memory? Thank you for your help...I just wish my burner would burn quicker.
The speed of the burn is governed not only by the burner "speed" but also by the disc "speed"...it is recommended not to burn DVDs at no faster than 4X.
Some times the burning speed depends on what type media you are using. You might pass that along with who makes it. Have you done a CD-DVD speed test on your burner? Also use InfoTool to look at your drive. It will give you some information, like whether you have DMA on.
I forgot to mention that I am burning the files from my hard drive, after I had previously copied the files to my HD using shrink or dvd decrypter. Even if I could get to 4x, I'd be much happier...2x is driving me nuts! lol. Also, I've been using top quality media...all claims writes 16x: Sony, Memorex, TDK. How do you do the speed test? And where could I get the InfoTool program? Thanks for your continued help!
Do yourself a favour, dont use these discs, they are horrible, heres something for you to read http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/262544...Although your comp is new, the burner firmware may need updating. Info tool is found in Nero Start Smart as shown here
