i disassembled my ps2, the fat version, to clean out the inside to get rid of all the dust. after reasembling it, i found out that i had an extra gold screw. everything seemed to be inplace, so i just thought it wouldnt hurt to leave it out. but when i put back the top shell of the ps2, i have that magic swap flip top dvd thing, i found out one of my black screws wont fit. it is the black short screw that goes directly under the reset and eject button on the front of the ps2. it seems that the screw is too short now. i reexamined the ps2 a thousand times, and i cant figure out where it goes. help? thank!
how big is the screw? is it tiny or is it medium or is it really long like the ones that go under the PS2. If its tiny then it could be one that came from the DVD drive lid. You know, the lid you took off of the drive so you could access the drive tray through flip top port. If its medium it may be a screw that actually holds the drive into the system and if its pretty long then it goes in the shell of the PS2. Another thing you may want to consider is that some PS2's are different than others. You should find out which version PS2 you have and make sure that version is compatible with your flip top.
I had the exact same problem a whileb ago. I stripped my ps2 down to sort the laser out and after reassembly found I had a 'spare' screw, and after days of dissection and reassemling it turned out I had been overlooking the screw hole under the power switch at the back of the unit. So my little piece of advice is to check there. Hope this helps
