Recently our HTPC decided to die. It was a cheap machine I had bought a tuner card for and we aren't ready to replace it. However, LOTS of our movies are backed up to DVD as Divx and Xvid files. I figured the cheapest solution would be to go buy a Divx DVD player. Having done so, I now have an issue. NONE of my discs will play. All are DATA DVD-R discs containing AVIs only. All are on Memorex, Sony and Fujitsu discs. Al have had the session closed and work fine in all the computers in the house. When I try to use the Phillips DVP 5982 I just bought, it says "Unknown disc". I have now tried over 20 discs. Same thing everytime. I have tried older Divx files, newer files, Xvid files....all the same result. Whats the deal?
go to videohelp.com and type in the model number of your player and it will tell you what type of media it will or will not play
